It has come to our attention that the MySpace page that claims to be Chiaki Kuriyama is in fact not her. Many of us have assumed that but I have received confirmation that this is true. She did create a MySpace page for a while but dropped it years ago. 6/16/08

Another rumor has raised its ugly head and pontificated that Chiaki has gone under the knife to look the was she does. In fact, its rumored that all Asian stars go under the knife to look the way they do. I will investigate this to the best of my ability. 6/14/08

Last month, Shochiku
announced a movie adaptation
of Manabu Makime's novel "Kamogawa Horumo," directed by Katsuhide Motoki and
starring
Takayuki Yamada. Now it
has been revealed that actress
Chiaki Kuriyama has joined the cast.
"Kamogawa Horumo" is a supernatural coming-of-age comedy set in Kyoto
University. Yamada plays Akira Abe, a new student who gets involved in a club
whose members compete against each other with their powers of controlling
spirits known as shikigami.
Kuriyama has been cast as a fellow freshman named Fumi, an eccentric and
unsociable girl whose reasons for joining the club are unclear at first. Her
character sports an okappa haircut and black-rimmed glasses, which earns her the
nickname of "Bon-chan" for her resemblance to TV celebrity Bondo Ooki.
Sei Ashina,
Takuya Ishida,
Gaku
Hamada, and
Yoshiyoshi Arakawa have
already been announced as cast members. The film is scheduled to open in 2009.
Oricon repeated its
survey from last year
that asked the public who they think looks best with black hair, though this
time around the survey divided the choices for male and female celebrities.
Not surprisingly, the female list was very similar to the previous results, with
Yukie Nakama once again
in the lead.
Mika Nakashima and
Chiaki Kuriyama traded places, ranking at #2
and #3, respectively, while
Yui
Aragaki moved up one place to #4 and
Meisa Kuroki jumped three places to land at #5.
On the men's list,
Junichi Okada took the top spot, ahead of
Ryo Nishikido, who was
the only male in last year's top 10 (he was #9).
Hiroshi Tamaki ranked 3rd, while
Jun
Matsumoto tied with
Satoshi Tsumabuki for
4th.
The main voice cast for
Mamoru Oshii's "The Sky Crawlers" was made
public on Tuesday. The director has always used professional voice actors for
the lead parts in his works, but this time he has appointed two major movie
stars as the protagonists.
The story revolves around the lives of young children who battle as fighter
pilots.
Rinko Kikuchi will voice
the female commander Kusanagi, while
Ryo Kase
plays her subordinate Kannami. Other cast members include
Shosuke Tanihara and
Chiaki Kuriyama.
"The Sky Crawlers" is slated to open on August 2.

ARCHIVES
There have been rumors that Chiaki was going to be in the film "Tekken." which is filming in Feb 2008. Several websites proclaimed this to be true so I called Tekken in Shreveport La. and asked if the rumors were true and if so, could I interview her. I talked to someone high up (I won't reveal his name) and he said she had not signed up for the movie but that if circumstances change, he would call me back so that I could go ahead with the interview. Keep your fingers crossed! 2/1/07
The Premier of "Kids" happened in Japan on 2/2/08
There is a big rumor that the Goddess is dating Makoto Koshinaka. He was the guitar player for defunct band Lucifer. We'll try and find out if this is true. 2/18/08
Well, the tabloids are saying this is true but Chiaki and Makoto are saying it is not. Sounds like a publicity stunt by Space Craft. 2/19/08
I received a call from an agent in New York City who wanted to know how to get a hold of Chiaki's agent in Japan. Since I had that information, I gave it to him. Apparently, there is a desire for her to host a television show here in the States. Since she can't speak English, I don't know how this will be set up but who cares? If they are successful, they will let me know and they will allow me to interview her if this comes to pass. Keep your fingers crossed for this as well! 2/19/08

I just received some new pics of the Goddess. Don't cry but she cut her hair. It'll grow back! 3/30/08

I debated posting this next item but I felt it was my duty to report it and then comment on it. It is reported on japundit.com that Edison Chen had some compromising pics of himself and Chiaki stolen from his laptop. The Hollywood Grind website claims to have those pics and will be posting them in the near future.
Let me say up front, I don't trust the Hollywood Grind as far as I can throw the Playboy Mansion and I don't believe these photos exist. And even if they did, that would not change the feelings that I and others at the Shrine have for her. We love her unequivocally and will continue to do so. You, as her fans, need to determine how you feel about this. Is she a piece of meat or is she a human being that we all admire? With me, it is the latter. Keith 3/31/08

From what I could find out, there is no truth to the above rumor.

Hi. Keith here. I feel that I and the rest of my compatriots are being attacked once again by the blogosphere for daring to have a site such as this one. I have been called creepy, a pedophile, weird and so on, and those are the nice names I'm called. What is my crime? To see Chiaki as someone who can become a bigger actress than she is? Is it jealousy on our attackers part? This site is a LOT of work and costs a LOT of money to maintain. These items I have obtained for her benefit and for the viewing pleasure of the World Wide Web are not cheap. There is nothing, and I do mean nothing that I have received monetarily or as much as a thank you from Chiaki herself and I don't expect to. I'm doing this out of love, for her and for you. I have a thick skin and can usually dismiss these attacks and this is the only thing I'm going to post about it. Just one piece of advise. Think before you attack. Many of you think that I think like you think. It's real easy to have courage when you sit behind your anonymity. I'm not calling you names nor will I. Just grow up a little. Thank you.

Sorry to report this late but actress Kuriyama Chiaki (22) has been chosen as the Best Leathernist for 2007. One of many awards given out each year purely for publicity purposes, this one is sponsored by the Tanners Council of Japan, and is given to the female celebrity who is judged to look best in leather. Kuriyama certainly fits the bill, especially given her leap to fame as the ruthless Go Go Yubari in Quentin Tarantino's 2003 revenge epic "Kill Bill, Vol. 1". More recently she has featured in cosmetics commercials with other top actresses. For yesterday's photo shoot, she wore a black leather biker's jacket, hot pants and high boots, with the look finished off by fishnet stockings. The latest award puts her in good company, as previous winners include actress Yonekura Ryoko (31) and model Tominaga Ai (24).

Schieffer made the request during a meeting with Chief Cabinet Secretary Nobutaka Machimura at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.
Machimura said Japan is considering revisions to the Law for Punishing Acts Related to Child Prostitution and Child Pornography, and for Protecting Children.
"Japan is considering what legal steps to take," Machimura told Schieffer, indicating there are bipartisan moves to outlaw mere possession of the despicable materials that are currently not explicitly banned because of loopholes in the existing legislation.
Schieffer told reporters that child pornography is an international problem and that he believes Japan will do the correct thing in its approach to it.
I I wanted to post this story dated 4/23/08 to bolster my argument on the "My Precious" page that the Japanese government may say they have outlawed child pornography when in reality, they have not.
